Whoa!!! The 20th Anniversary of MVI!!!
I can’t believe it! In fact, it freaks me out! But 20 years has rolled by…and you don’t even notice it when you’re so caught up in doing what you love! Such has been the MVI journey! When one considers that only 10% of all businesses survive the first 5 years and then only 10% of those survive the next 5 years…I have one word to express my feelings…
THANKFULNESS!!!
I want to express extreme and genuine gratitude to all of our clients that have made the MVI journey possible. Because without our loyal and insightful clients, we would have no business… We would not have the content of best known practices as well as the means with which to communicate them.
As one reflects, one has to evaluate. “Have we done our job well?” “Have we helped advance the Hospice world?” “Have we been as helpful as we could be?” “Have we helped those that have placed trust in us manage better and increase quality?” Certainly we can self-assess, but ultimately it is the customer’s vote that matters…
I am also aware of the journey, and all businesses are a journey. In my office, I have boards of MVI “through the ages” stuff! A lot of it looks so childish and amateurish now. We REALLY lacked polish and hopefully we are a bit better in this department! However, somehow, people could see beyond our lack of production and realized that there was some value there…or that this little company was truly committed to discovering “what was working” in Hospiceland and was committed to communicating it candidly and in a spirit of integrity. And sometimes we got it wrong or misinterpreted things! Our mistakes and missteps were essential to our growth! The intention behind a misstep or mistake makes a difference! Was the intention to cause harm, be malicious, be greedy or come from a place that lacked genuine concern for the welfare of others? Trying to do the right thing and blowing it is a different type of misstep than one that comes from lower motivations! We all need our missteps and the pain that comes with them to learn!
It’s 2016 and I feel that MVI is actually just beginning! This is the attitude of the staff too! It took us 20 years just to develop our systems and people in order to do what we were meant to do! The truth is that this apprenticeship will never really be over. As a client, you can look forward to a much richer MVI experience! It may even be Life-Changing (Whoa!)!!! We appreciate our clients’ patience as you have watched MVI grow up…We certainly have watched you grow up too! It is a relationship! MVI has always been about long-term relationships as, pragmatically speaking, most organization cultural changes take time. So from our “rounding error” pricing, to our systematic approach to guiding clients in their respective journeys towards implementing the practices of the 90th percentile, we are truly committed to serving well! To serve well is to Teach Well and live the methods that we Teach! Actually using the things we learn is one of the absolute coolest things! The practices Hospices need to create extraordinary quality and phenomenal financial results transfer to MVI! And the things that MVI needs to have and do to have extraordinary quality accompanied by phenomenal financial results are the same as the things needed by our clients! If that is not a “win-win-win” (add a “win” for patients and families), I don’t know what is!!!!! Yes, the practices of the 90th percentile have to be contextualized to each business, but most can!
We love you! And are committed to you! We love everyone and recognize that everyone is trying to do their best! Lean on us! That is exactly why we exist!!!! Use MVI to assist you in developing strong Professional Hospice Managers! For this is where excellence will be replicated and multiplied.
