In August 2020 the leader of a Managed Care Network spoke about quality and the Medicare Advantage Carve-in. The world of Hospice seems to be looking for partners, groups to speak for them. But Sachin Jain, MD, the CEO of the SCAN Health Plan, is looking for quality. From his perspective quality is king. He said, “Star ratings are not just consumer facing measures — although that’s how a lot of Medicare Advantage plans use them — they also dictate your revenue. If you have a large Medicare Advantage book like we do, the change between a four-and-a-half star rating and a four-star rating actually quantifies in the tens of millions of dollars.”
